Day Trip to Essaouira

Escape the heat and the crowded bazars of the busy Medina of Marrakech, and take a small trip to the laid back hippie village of Essaouira at the Moroccan seaside.

At early morning you will be picked up at your hotel/riad to make the 2,5 hour drive towards the coast. One hour before arrival we will visit the Argan trees with the climbing goats. You will have the possibility to take some photos here.

Essaouira, or sometimes called Mogador, is famous for its medina fortification and fishing
port with blue boats. The atmosphere is a bit artsy and hippie with
artists and a big surfing population.

The walled medina which is from the 18th century, is on Unesco’s World Heritage list and a popular place to try Moroccan street food. Have some fresh sugarcane juice and some oily pancakes filled with vegetables before  your walk to the fishermans harbor. Or have some fresh prepared fish next to the fortress tower. So many possibilities for delicious food in Essaouira that one day is too short! Vegetarians also have enough options to choose from in this city: falafal plates can be found on every street corner and also many hipster vegan restaurants pop up. Also make sure to visit one of the two inspiring new restaurants like Mega Loft and Dar Baba for a drink or some food.

And when you are looking for some adventure, maybe even go for a camel or horse ride at the beach. Something you will never forget for sure.

Did we already say one day is not enough for Essaouira?
